I am thrilled to share that I was able to witness my first Julia caterpillar create a chrysalis this morning. I could not have timed it any more perfect. It is fascinating to watch the caterpillar go from it’s J shape to no longer having the curve as it slowly moves its body up and down as it slowly sheds its skin.
I also saw a Julia caterpillar after it completed its molting, which was really neat, as its spikes were white, instead of black.
So, to say it was an eventful day in the butterfly enclosure is definitely an understatement.
I love documenting the transformation through photos, as you really get to see it unfold as memories captured in time.
