Our front butterfly garden was full of new birth this morning, one of which my daughter spotted first.

The last couple of weeks the gardens have come alive with tons of eggs, caterpillars and butterflies of a variety of species.
Today it was a female and male monarch butterfly that hatched from their chrysalis.
The gulf fritillary’s are so much fun to photograph, a real challenge as their wings flutter nonstop. They are frequent visitors early in the morning to the porterweed.

All three Dutchman pipe plants have grown back, attracting the polydamas swallowtails to the garden again. The females have been busy laying eggs.

A beautiful male monarch butterfly hatched this morning in our butterfly house. He was successfully released in our butterfly garden.
This beauty marks #167 successfully raised after taking a few weeks off of raising caterpillars.
