I am always guaranteed to spot the gulf fritillary finding its favorite nectar, porterweed, first thing in the morning in our front butterfly garden. I am grateful they stay for a few seconds sipping nectar allowing me to capture their beauty before their wings take them to their new destination.

Just a few of the monarch caterpillars taking residence in our butterfly house. They are chowing down on the leaves and stem of a giant milkweed.
The beautiful cloudless sulphur has become a daily visitor of our garden.

Another female monarch butterfly hatched in our butterfly house this morning. We have had tons of success lately with raising caterpillars and adding to the monarch population.
We had three more monarch butterflies hatch in our butterfly house this morning. We are on a healthy streak with six total yesterday and today.
They were all extremely eager to take flight . . . not one of them hung out on our hands.
But instead flew out of the butterfly house straight into our screened in patio.
